Mari Murtskhvaladze is a zoologist. Graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Faculty of Biology and Medicine in 2002, and in 2012 was awarded PhD degree after defending her doctoral thesis at Ilia State University on the topic: “Animal species and population structure research in the Caucasus”.
Since the same year, Mari Murtskhvaladze has been an Associate Professor and head of the Molecular Genetics laboratory at Ilia State University. Since 2013, she has been working in the Richard Lugar Genomic Laboratory of the L. Sakvarelidze Center for Disease Control and Public Health.
In 2016-2017, Mari Murtskhvaladze was a Fulbright Scholar. She studied at the Sanger Genome Center (UK), Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA), and the Zoological Museum in Bonn.
